We are delighted that ALL FOUR of our Care Homes have been rated in the TOP 20 Care Homes in Northern Ireland as a result of independent reviews compiled by carehome.co.uk.

We are so proud of our all our teams across all four homes who are so dedicated to delivering great care to our residents especially during the last 18months. Given that there is 482 Care Homes in Northern Ireland this makes these awards all the more impressive!!!

Bramblewood Care Home - Long Service Awards

Today we celebrated three of our team who have been with us a combined 55 years!!!

Our Care Assistants Joanne Midgely with over 25 years’ service, followed closely by Billy McCallum with 20 years’ service and last but not least Danielle Larmour with 10 years’ service.

In the last couple of years, we've started recognising our teams long service as we have so many that have dedicated much of their working lives to our care homes.

We love giving out these awards and look forward to handing out more 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year awards (yes Joanne that's a wee target for you!!) in the near future.

We really appreciate all your years of service to Bramblewood Care Home.

Marina Care Home - Long Service Awards

Today we celebrated two of our team who have been with us a combined 35 years.  Our Staff Nurse Iris Hessin has dedicated 25 years to Marina Care Home and is still going strong and our Home Administrator Claire Ferris has notched up an impressive 10 years’ service and has her eyes on matching Iris's 25 years of service.

We love giving out long service awards as it is a testament to the great team we have. We've a few more to present in the coming days to our colleagues in our sister homes.

Update on Family and Friends Visiting

As a Covid-19 free Care Home we re-opened for Safe visiting in Mid-June as we know how much this means to our residents and their families.

Further to the Health Ministers recent announcement on Care Home visiting our Policy on visiting remains the same and we feel that a cautious approach is very important as although transmission rates have reduced, we are acutely aware that Covid-19 still exists and as such we must protect our vulnerable residents and staff.

The relaxation of lockdown measures could in itself lead to added risk of transmission and we have already seen examples of areas throughout the world having to return to strict lockdown measures due to a second spike in the virus. We feel me must protect our vulnerable and elderly residents from that risk.

We will permit visiting to our designated internal visiting area and gardens areas with the following conditions:

- 30min visit on a pre-booked appointment basis only. Bookings can be arranged by contacting the Home directly and will be on a first come first served basis

- Visiting can take place in good weather in our seated garden areas but under strict social distancing conditions

- Visitors should bring their own facemask

- Our visitors book must be filled in on each visit

- We will facilitate visiting for end of life care and this will be arranged with the Home Manager or Nursing Staff on an individual basis

- We aim to facilitate visiting for residents nursed in bed and this should be arranged with the Home Manager or Nursing Staff on an individual basis

The indoor visiting area we have created is accessed without entering the main confines of the home. We have installed a protective clear roller screen, sanitiser points and seating which can be easily sanitised between visits.

We appreciate this is not a return to full visiting but we must risk assess how we permit visiting with the protection of our residents and staff paramount.

If you have not already organised a visit we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Relatives Communication Reminder

video calling website

Throughout these times we understand the anxiety it can cause by not being able to visit your relatives.

We want to keep as many methods of communication open to you so you can both speak to our Nurses for updates or to communicate directly with your loved one.

We are only too happy to take phone and video calls and we have outlined the contact details for the Video Calling in the picture as a reminder of this facility which we know many of you have availed of and appreciated.

For our part as is usual practice we will make contact with you should there be any change to your relatives condition and any wider potential issues in the Home should the need arise.

Our teams are working immensely hard at these testing times and are taking all available precautions to safeguard your relative as well as themselves as they go home to their own families after each shift.

We thank you for your continued support and understanding and can assure you of our best efforts.

Take care

Furloughed Workers can become Healthcare Heroes

We have received brilliant news that Furloughed workers can receive their payment of 80% AND work in care to support the FRONT-LINE HEALTHCARE TEAMS and earn some extra money.

This updated policy will benefit the Health and Social Care Sector to include Care Homes and all care providers across the nation who desperately need everyones support during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.

If you or someone you know is Furloughed and has the qualities and compassion to help in Front-line care, you can without impacting your Furloughed status.

Please contact us for further details on how to apply by emailing hr@burnviewgroup.com

Video Calling - Keeping you Connected

With the ongoing restrictions in visting to all our care homes we appreciate this is causing many family and friends great anxiety especially not being able to see their loved ones. We will be using our social media platforms to post pictures and videos more often to demonstrate that the show really does go on in all our care homes. In addition we have purchased mobile phones for each Home so that we can facilitate video calls via WhatsApp with your loved ones. These will be available from Mothers Day onwards.

Please contact your Care Home for further details.
